Community Living York South Get’s Re-Accredited, We did it...again!

Community Living York South is pleased to achieve 4 year re-accreditation for the period of June 2019 – June 2023 from FOCUS Accreditation. This is our second accreditation with FOCUS Accreditation, having achieved our first one in 2013.  

In their process, FOCUS Accreditation considers all aspects of an organization including how people and families are supported and the effectiveness of the supports and services.   As part of the process to be re-accredited, CLYS submitted almost 1300 pieces of “evidence” such as policies and procedures and examples of how we achieve standards to be reviewed against the FOCUS Accreditation Domains and standards.  In addition, FOCUS Accreditation, through surveys, phone and in person interviews, collected information from 112 interviews of people supported, families, staff, community partners and funders.   As well, 5 peer validators from FOCUS Accreditation were onsite at CLYS from May 13-16 2019 to review our supports and services.   The team, observed how services were provided, reviewed data, and collected input from various people who have a stake in the services being provided.   We are very happy with the results of our re-accreditation application and most importantly, we are proud to achieve this standard of excellence in how we empower people to live, learn, work and participate in their community.   Our efforts will continue to ensure we have quality improvement always at the forefront of who we are as an organization and to strive for excellence.
